Position Title: Corporate Project Planner (full-time, salaried)
Reports to: Director of Corporate Projects
Location: Hybrid workplace with an average of 2-3 days in the office per week. HandsOn Twin Cities is located in Saint Paul, MN.

Purpose of Position
The Hands-on Corporate Volunteer Program plans volunteer events and projects for companies ranging from small businesses to global Fortune 500s. In tandem, the department actively engages with nonprofits to understand the goals of their organization and the communities they serve. These volunteer events include volunteer projects at corporate offices, at-home or small group volunteering through our Project in a Box service, beautification and conservation of community spaces, and days/weeks of service that may include all the former. Volunteer project examples: fleece tied blankets for shelters assisting the unhoused, snack packs for youth serving organizations, pet toys for animal rescues, rejuvenating spaces with a new coat of paint, yardwork, organizing storage rooms, and much more!

The Corporate Project Planner is responsible for planning hands-on volunteer events and projects for companies that serve our nonprofit and community partners.

In this role, your responsibilities are:

Partnership and Project Management

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective corporate and nonprofit partners

  • Serve as a contact for nonprofits conducting outreach for volunteer projects and group opportunities, as well as the contact for corporations seeking group volunteer options

  • Provide exceptional communication and customer service to partners, ensuring timely updates on project progress and key deliverables

  • Plan and manage projects from ideation to completion, ensuring alignment with scope, desired goals, timeline, and budget

  • Oversee project budgets, including preparing estimates, tracking expenses, and maintaining financial records

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to timelines, budgets, and resources

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in Salesforce to capture project impact, track partner engagement, and support reporting and analysis

Volunteer Coordination

  • Lead the execution of customized corporate volunteer projects, ranging in size from 10-1,000 volunteers for one-day and multi-day, in-person, and remote volunteer initiatives

  • Represent the organization by communicating our mission, programs, the purpose of the volunteer project, etc.

  • Instruct and supervise volunteers to ensure quality and engagement

  • Communicate roles and responsibilities to HandsOn Twin Cities and contract staff supporting volunteer project

  • Travel to and from volunteer projects within the Twin Cities

Event Supply and Logistics

  • Set-up and clean-up volunteer projects

  • Purchase, source, and organize supplies for volunteer projects

  • Collaborate with the team to maintain the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse

  • Schedule shipments of volunteer project supplies to and from sites (companies, nonprofits, event venues)

  • Foster relationships and work with vendors and sites’ shipping and receiving staff on logistics

  • Greet couriers, and receive deliveries and outgoing shipments of supplies from the warehouse

Other Responsibilities:

  • Involve and supervise volunteers and interns as appropriate in job-related activities

  • Generate suggestions for improving project workflow and ideas for new service projects

  • Engage in HandsOn Twin Cities’ diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and incorporate them in your role

  • Provide volunteer opportunity referrals to corporate and community individuals/groups

  • Participate in the planning and execution of HandsOn Twin Cities’ signature events as necessary

  • Support the organization with storytelling

  • Other duties as assigned

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A team player with a passion for social change

  • A minimum of two (2) years planning events, managing volunteers and/or comparable experience working with community

  • Experience managing multiple, detail-oriented projects with overlapping timelines, resulting in successful project execution

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to adapt and problem-solve as events and projects may change during the planning process and in the current landscape

  • Willingness to learn crafting, painting, and gardening or already has a general knowledge of these skills

  • Enthusiasm to roll up your sleeves to spread mulch, count and move project supplies, and pack boxes of volunteer projects knowing these tasks contribute to a larger impact

  • Ability to lift, carry and push objects up to 30 pounds. Physical work is required and may include lifting and transporting materials such as mulch, tools, paint, or other project supplies (up to 30 pounds), depending on project needs.

  • A valid driver’s license, a vehicle to help transport supplies to events when needed, and a good driving record

Compensation Package

  • Pay. The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $56,000 annually. In keeping with our values of equity and transparency, we determine starting salaries within this range based on experience and qualifications. To ensure fairness across our team, we do not negotiate salaries beyond the posted range.

  • Bonus. This is contingent upon the individual’s performance and the organization’s overall financial results. Bonuses are not guaranteed and are awarded at the organization’s discretion.

  • Savings/Retirement Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in the company’s SIMPLE IRA Plan, with a matching contribution equal to their salary reduction contribution, up to 3% of their annual compensation.
