NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center

Who We Are

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is a comprehensive health and human services agency located in the heart of North Minneapolis. NorthPoint is comprised of two organizations: a community services nonprofit with a broad array of social and human services (NorthPoint Inc.); and a full service community health center (NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center) that includes medical, dental and behavioral health clinics. NorthPoint seeks to reduce health disparities, improve health outcomes, and enhance the overall quality of life for all residents of North Minneapolis by providing high quality medical, dental and behavioral health care, along with integrated social services such as its food shelf, housing resources and domestic violence services -- with respect, dignity and sensitivity to a culturally rich and ethnically diverse community.

What We Do

Special one-time events and on-going weekly volunteer opportunities are available.

Produce Distribution/Outdoor Markets:

May through September, approximately every other Friday 7:30am-12:30pm volunteers assist our staff distributing free produce and more to our community members.  It is a great way to spend a morning outdoors serving families with good food and our community partners promote their programs and services as well.  Twenty-five volunteers are needed each morning.  The 2017 dates are:  5/19, 6/2, 6/16, 6/30, 7/7, 7/21, 8/4, 8/18, 9/1, 9/15 and 9/29.

National Night Out:

Community members will come together on Tuesday, 8/1, 4:00pm-7:00pm to learn about health and safety and get to know their neighbors.  Volunteers encourage children and adults to participate in physical activities and serve some nutritious food.

Fit4Fun:

Our 6th Annual Fit4Fun event will be on Saturday 9/9.  This event will include a family oriented 1 and 3 mile walk/run/bike ride, group aerobics, music, dancing, prizes, healthy food options, children's activities, health and wellness information and most importantly, fun!  We welcome you to be a volunteer for a 2-3 hour shift and then be a participant for the rest of the event and bring your family and friends!

See, Test & Treat - Women’s Cancer Prevention Education and Screenings:

In September we invite women and their families to an African American Women’s Forum 9/28 1-7pm, Latina Festival date TBD, and Hmong Tea 9/21 1-7pm to learn about cancer prevention.  Then the first week of October (10/3, 10/4 and 10/5), we provide a day of screening for women 21-60 years old.  Women meet health care providers, receive free screenings if they don’t have insurance, sign up for health insurance if they need it, and learn how to be healthy.  Twenty-five volunteers each day help escort the ladies through the clinic stations, participate in the dance and exercise, and have some great meals.
