Who We Are

Neighbors was started by volunteers in 1972 in response to an unemployment crisis and increasing numbers of individuals in the community who were in need. Today, volunteers remain at the heart of the organization, providing our core services. Neighbors could not exist without them.

As our mission states, "With the help of its volunteers, Neighbors, Inc. will strive to reduce poverty, promote self-sufficiency, and build community."

What We Do

Neighbors, Inc. is a basic needs nonprofit. We provide food, clothing, and emergency assistance to people in need in northern Dakota County. Our programs include an emergency food shelf, a thrift store that is both open to the public and a resource to clients who need clothing or household items, a holiday gift program, emergency cash assistance, rides for sick or elderly people to their medical appointments, among others.
