Corporate Month
of Service at
Cityview School
in Minneapolis

Hard-working
volunteers from UHG assemble two planter benches
in record time!
On the morning of Saturday,
September 15th, Corporate Month of Service 2007
started with the bang of a few dozen
hammers. Over 70 volunteers from
UnitedHealth Group and Piper Jaffray got
together at Cityview Performing Arts Magnet
School on the north side of Minneapolis to put
the finishing touches on the renovation project
begun by Hands On Twin Cities in
July.

A few brave, and
very skilled, Piper Jaffray volunteers opted for
the difficult task of building a ramp.
In just three hours, these
volunteers built three planter benches, weeded
the landscaping areas, planted dozens of new
shrubs, lay new mulch layers, built a ramp for
the outdoor performance stage, and painted
birdhouses and murals to decorate the improved
community gardens.

Cityview faculty
and their families came to be a part of the
action.
The work that our volunteers
accomplished at Cityview is a testament to
community involvement, cooperation, and
compassion. The hard-working staff at
Cityview took time out of their already busy
schedules to help Hands On Twin Cities make sure
that the project was well-planned and that the
volunteer had everything they needed. The
volunteers gave up a weekend morning to work
outside in nearly freezing weather. Our
heartfelt appreciation to everyone at Cityview,
UnitedHealth Group, and Piper Jaffray for making
this fantastic day of service possible, and for
Being the Change.
