CVC Twin Cities

Almost 200 volunteers from many Twin City Companies!

On September 19th, as part of their 2008 Corporate Month of Service activities, the Corporate Volunteerism Council Twin Cities (CVC-TC) invited its 40 member companies and 10 associate member organizations to participate in it's first all CVC-TC member event. Over 100 volunteers participated to make a difference at Indian Mounds Park in St. Paul.

The event was hosted by CVC-TC in partnership with Great River Greening and St. Paul Parks and Recreation.

That day volunteers from 3M, Allianz Life, Ameriprise Financial, Best Buy, Best Prep, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, Cargill, Carlson, Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Ecolab, Faegre & Benson, Goodwill/Easter Seals, Great Twin Cities United Way, Hands On Twin Cities, MAP for Nonprofits, Medtronic, RBC Wealth Management, Target, The Toro Company, Thomson Reuters and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans were split into 6 groups and together planted 338 trees, 140 shrubs and spread 138 yards of mulch all in an effort to restore the area back to an oak savana.

In addition to improving their community, volunteers also received education by St. Paul Parks and Recreation staff and an ecologist from Great River Greening, on the importance of the environmental impact they were making.

A special thank you goes out to all the corporate volunteers who participated and especially to all the organizations who made this day possible.
