Along with our
Project Calendar, our searchable database of
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities, and
Customized Volunteer Service Projects (email
us for details), Hands On Twin Cities also
offers a
number of special annual events.
These yearly events are the
cornerstone of Hands On Twin Cities' programming
- they are events that serve the community while
inspiring participants to seek out more ways to
get involved through volunteerism.
Hands On Twin Cities
Volunteer Expo at Mall of America
Saturday, February 21, 2009
will be one of the busiest days of the year
for us - that's when we host America's Largest
Volunteer Expo at Mall of America!
Visitors to the expo can check out thousands of
ways to volunteer in their communities, as well
as check out some great live entertainment
(singers, dancers, service dogs, and more!), and
win fun prizes.
2007 featured
representatives from more than 110 nonprofit
organizations who utilize volunteers in their
work. In fact, the expo itself couldn't
happen each year if it weren't for dozens of
event volunteers who run supplies, greet
visitors, assist with set-up and take-down, and
more.

Hands On Twin Cities
Day
Serve-a-Thon
Like the popular
"walk-a-thons", volunteers for the Hands On Twin
Cities Day projects raise pledges ($25 minimum) which help fund meaningful volunteer service
opportunities throughout the year. Unlike
"walk-a-thons", our volunteers are engaged in
meaningful volunteer service projects,
themselves!
Through this Serve-a-Thon
model, volunteers at Hands On Twin Cities Day
projects give twice to their communities.
Past projects have included building furniture
for families in transition, helping a small
nonprofit theatre move their set materials, and
planting native grass species around Lake Como.
This event takes place in late spring, so we usually plan fun,
outdoor projects, because we hear that most volunteers want to get their hands
dirty.

Corporate Month of
Service
During September 2007, Hands On Twin
Cities mobilized hundreds of
corporate volunteers to lead and
participate in service projects
across the metro to address our
communities’ most critical needs. Corporate Month of Service is a
unique opportunity to recognize the
collective power of corporations,
nonprofit organizations and civic
leaders joining together to create
significant impact. This
September, Corporate Month of
Service not only delivered action,
innovation and impact – but also served as an
inspirational jumpstart for ongoing
service events and community
building activities throughout the
year.

No one loves
planning volunteer events as much as
Hands On Twin
Cities. No one.
